ASHEPA Introduces QR Code and Online Verification for Membership Certificates

ASHEPA Secretariat – The President of African Safety, Health and Environmental Professional Association (ASHEPA), Mr. Wilson Ronnie Odoom, has announced a major digital advancement in the Association’s membership services, confirming that ASHEPA membership certificates can now be verified using a QR Code or the official online verification portal.

The announcement was made during an interview with Mr. Odoom on ASHEPA’s digitization and innovation agenda. He explained that the new verification system forms part of ASHEPA’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, improved service delivery, and stronger protection of the Association’s membership credibility.

According to Mr. Odoom, the QR Code will be placed on all ASHEPA membership certificates starting from 13 May 2026. This means that any ASHEPA membership certificate issued from 13 May 2026 onward should carry a verification QR Code. Employers, institutions, partners, and members of the general public are therefore encouraged to scan the QR Code on the certificate to confirm its authenticity.

He further clarified that ASHEPA certificates issued before 13 May 2026 can also be verified, even though the older certificates may not have the membership verification QR Code printed on them. All ASHEPA certificates can be verify through the same official verification portal by entering the member’s name and clicking “Verify.”

The official ASHEPA membership verification portal is: https://ashepa.org/membership-verification

Mr. Odoom emphasized that every person claiming to be an ASHEPA member should be verified through the official system. The verification process confirms whether the certificate is valid and whether it was officially issued by the ASHEPA Secretariat.

“This is a very important advancement for ASHEPA and a strong demonstration of our commitment to leveraging technology to improve the quality of service we provide to our members,” Mr. Odoom stated. “Through this verification system, employers and the public can now confirm the authenticity of ASHEPA membership certificates with ease. It strengthens trust, protects the integrity of the Association, and promotes professionalism in health, safety, and environmental practice.”

The QR Code and URL-based verification system is expected to reduce certificate misuse, misrepresentation, and unauthorized claims of ASHEPA membership. It provides employers and organizations with a simple, reliable, and transparent way to confirm the membership status of individuals who present ASHEPA certificates for employment, consultancy, partnership, training, or other professional purposes.

ASHEPA described the initiative as part of a broader digital transformation programme aimed at improving member experience, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that the Association’s services remain modern, efficient, and credible.

Mr. Odoom noted that digitization is now essential for professional associations that seek to remain relevant, trusted, and impactful. He said ASHEPA will continue to adopt innovative solutions that make its operations more transparent, accessible, and service-oriented.

The verification system is therefore not only a security improvement but also an additional quality service to ASHEPA members. It gives genuine members a stronger professional identity, while giving employers and the public confidence that certificates can be verified directly through ASHEPA’s official platform.

ASHEPA has called on all employers, safety professionals, corporate organizations, government agencies, training institutions, and members of the public to make certificate verification a standard practice whenever ASHEPA membership is claimed.

With this development, ASHEPA has taken another bold step in strengthening the credibility of its membership system and advancing its vision of a digitally enabled, transparent, and professional Association.
