ASHEPA Launches New Platforms to Boost HSE Collaboration Across Africa

The Association unveils digital initiatives to strengthen networking, knowledge sharing and professional voice across the continent

ASHEPA Secretariat – The African Safety, Health and Environmental Professionals Association (ASHEPA) has launched a series of new platforms aimed at strengthening collaboration, professional engagement and knowledge sharing among Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professionals across Africa.

The announcement was made by the President of ASHEPA, Mr. Wilson Ronnie Odoom, during an interview with ASHEPA HSE News, the Association’s newly introduced online media outlet created to amplify the voice of African Safety, Health and Environmental professionals across the continent and beyond.

According to Mr. Odoom, the new initiatives form part of ASHEPA’s broader vision to use technology and innovation to connect professionals, deepen industry conversations and ultimately improve the safety, health and wellbeing of workers across Africa.

He said Africa needs a strong and credible professional voice in health, safety and environment — one that is built by Africans and driven by African expertise to respond to the continent’s unique workplace realities and development needs.

“Africa needs a strong voice in health, safety and environment, and that voice must be built by Africans themselves,” Mr. Odoom said.

Among the key initiatives launched is ASHEPA HSE News, an online news platform designed to project the concerns, achievements and perspectives of African HSE professionals to audiences across Africa and beyond. The outlet is expected to serve as an important media platform for reporting on workplace safety issues, industry developments, best practices and professional opportunities within the HSE field.

Mr. Odoom explained that the new platform is more than a media channel; it is part of a deliberate effort by ASHEPA to ensure that African professionals can use their own voice to shape the future of health, safety and environmental practice on the continent.

Also launched is the ASHEPA Round Table, a strategic engagement platform hosted by ASHEPA’s Egypt Country Representative, Hussein Mohamed Fikry. The Round Table is intended to provide a forum for high-level dialogue, policy discussions, professional reflection and exchange of ideas on critical health, safety and environmental issues affecting Africa’s workplaces and industries.

In addition, the Association has introduced the ASHEPA Digital Community Platform, a dedicated social networking platform for HSE professionals. The platform, managed by Mr. Nana Antwi Aning and Mr. Isaac Odoom, is expected to promote networking, collaboration, mentorship and knowledge sharing among professionals across countries and sectors.

Mr. Odoom said the launch of the Round Table and the Digital Community Platform demonstrates ASHEPA’s commitment to making networking, engagement and knowledge sharing central pillars of its work.

“These platforms reflect our commitment to building a stronger, more connected HSE community across Africa,” he said. “We want professionals to have the opportunity to share ideas, build networks and contribute their knowledge toward protecting workers across the continent.”

The ASHEPA President described the Association’s growth as significant and encouraging, noting that the organisation is increasingly becoming a rallying point for HSE professionals who want to contribute to safer workplaces and stronger professional standards in Africa.

He stressed that ASHEPA’s mission goes beyond professional advancement alone. According to him, the ultimate goal is to ensure that the ordinary African worker becomes the true beneficiary of stronger HSE systems, better collaboration and improved professional practice.

Mr. Odoom said he is determined to lead the Association in a way that allows every HSE professional in Africa to contribute meaningfully to the protection of lives, the promotion of wellbeing and the development of safer working environments.

He also emphasized that ASHEPA’s long-term vision cannot be achieved without strategic partnerships and institutional cooperation. He called for closer engagement with governments, continental and international organisations, civil society institutions and the private sector to support the advancement of health, safety and environmental practice across Africa.

According to him, broad-based collaboration will be essential to building stronger workplace systems, influencing policy, expanding professional capacity and ensuring sustainable success for the HSE profession on the continent.

The launch of these new platforms comes at a time when workplace safety, occupational health and environmental protection are becoming increasingly important across Africa’s growing industries and labour markets. As the continent continues to expand in areas such as construction, mining, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure development, the need for stronger professional coordination and knowledge exchange has become more urgent.

With the introduction of ASHEPA HSE News, the ASHEPA Round Table and the ASHEPA Digital Community Platform, ASHEPA is positioning itself as a leading force in the effort to unite African HSE professionals and strengthen the profession’s voice in shaping a safer and healthier future for workers across the continent.

For many observers, the significance of the launch lies in its broader message: that African professionals must not work in isolation, and that the continent must build its own platforms, partnerships and professional systems to address its health, safety and environmental challenges.

Under the leadership of Mr. Wilson Ronnie Odoom, ASHEPA’s latest move signals a bold step toward a more connected, more influential and more impactful HSE community in Africa.
